Unique work

The Good Shepherd from the series The Pale of Times reflects on the growing insomnia and inner restlessness of modern humanity. In a world that is becoming increasingly technological, fast-paced, and media-driven, people are gradually losing their ability to experience silence, restoration, and the natural rhythm of sleep. Screens, constant stimulation, and digital overload reach even the most intimate moments of life, making true rest and inner balance increasingly difficult to attain.

The sleeping attire of the figure and the sheep covering the eyes suggest a state suspended between dreaming and wakefulness. The sheep — traditionally a symbol of calmness, protection, and pastoral life — becomes a reminder of something deeply human that is slowly disappearing: the connection to nature, instinct, and simple rituals of existence.

The work understands sleep not merely as a physical condition, but as a form of mental concentration on what truly matters. Amid endless distraction, The Good Shepherd raises the question of how people can relearn to slow down, to perceive consciously, and to reconnect with inner stillness.

At the same time, the painting carries an underlying ambiguity. The sheep obscure the figure’s vision, as if longing, memory, and emotional exhaustion were resting upon him all at once. Between control and surrender, a fragile state emerges in which the individual attempts to rediscover inner peace. In this sense, The Good Shepherd also becomes a quiet longing for return — a return to simplicity, to nature, and to a lost sense of emotional shelter.
