Ghone | Sunny Waterfall, Bangkok, Thailand, 2025
Acylic on canvas
Description
120 x 100 x 4 cm
Ghone began this piece with a soft foundation of blue, green, and yellow pastels, covering half of the canvas in gentle, luminous tones. In the center, he layered strokes of orange, green, blue, red, and purple, tapping his brush rhythmically to create a vibrant, playful flow of color.
The energy shifted dramatically when he suddenly poured an entire tube of black paint across the surface, transforming it into the silhouette of a mountain. From there, the artwork evolved through his fascination with spraying water, a technique he used to blur, wash, and reimagine the composition. Each spray introduced a sense of fluidity, mimicking the cascading movement of water. Over the course of two weeks, coinciding with the start of his new school term, Ghone returned home each day to continue painting and spraying, layer after layer. The result is a dynamic landscape where contrasts meet—light against dark, order against spontaneity, and stability against motion. Sunny Waterfall captures both the discipline of daily return and the boundless creativity of childhood imagination, echoing the vitality and persistence of nature itself.
