Der in Finnland lebende Hongkonger Künstler und Forscher (*1991) – Gewinner des renommierten C/O Berlin Talent Awards 2025 – präsentiert seine Arbeit „The Stone Gave Images“ sowie neue Werke zu diesem Thema. Yiu untersucht darin die historische und technologische Entwicklung der Gesichtsanalyse von traditionellen Methoden bis hin zu modernen Gesichtserkennungsalgorithmen. In der Installation werden ausschließlich in Stein gravierte Textfragmente und Datenmodelle im Zusammenspiel mit neuen, weiterführenden Arbeiten gezeigt. Durch das dauerhafte Medium Stein verleiht er flüchtigen digitalen Prozessen eine physische, archaische Schwere. Seine technologiekritische Position hinterfragt die vermeintliche Objektivität automatisierter Systeme und reflektiert die Konstruktion von Identität im digitalen Zeitalter.
