Bryn McConnell is an American visual artist who currently lives and works in Berlin. She is an artist who always raises a question about the intersection of utility, historical craft, and socio-cultural classifications, based on innovative textile and metal-weaving techniques.

Her latest practice, “Art for Architects,” is a material exploration of sewn metal mesh, where soft, colorful, and textured fibers interplay with rigid, ordered metallic structures. From her recent methodology—inspired by the patchwork construction of Berlin sidewalks, where she stitches rigid metal foundations into rhythmic, textured landscapes—the artist tries to bring practices historically dismissed as "feminine craft," like quilting, back into the fine art context. The gridded framework acts simultaneously as a structural constraint and a fluid space where recycled components and contemporary resources mesh together. She describes her work as a visual diagramming of her experience living in a foreign country, celebrating transparency by embracing negative space and emphasizing meticulous construction techniques. Her work is rooted in disguising functional archetypes like sunshades, maps, and lamps within a contemporary framework, merging architectural discipline within the form of tactile storytelling.

McConnell’s career is marked by an active international presence, spanning solo presentations and prestigious artist residencies. She has been invited to solo exhibitions at Pandora Gallery in Berlin and Suis Generis in New Orleans, alongside group exhibitions at venues such as Prachtsaal, Studio 11, and Retramp Gallery in Berlin, following her collaborative residencies at GlogauAIR and SomoS Arts.
