Judith, 40 years old, Munich (Germany)
"My mother is Hungarian. Our family has a really strong connection with Hungarian roots. We even tried to live in Hungary several times but always came back to Germany since my mother could not find a proper job there. My father died when I was 5 and she always tried to work hard. Poor mum.
I was left to my own devices and the streets from early childhood. When I was young, I got married and moved to Berlin, where my drug problems worsened. We
smoked together with my husband. He died a few years ago, and that's how I became homeless.
My mother visited Leopold Platz (this is the place where I get drugs); she came to Berlin specifically for this purpose. Oh my gosh, 8 hours by train to visit this shithole! She was looking for me. I smoked right in front of her, but I don't remember it; people hanging around here told me the next day. Mom, forgive me.
Now I sell newspapers in the subway and beg for alms. It helps me scrape together money for drugs and food. If I wear horns, they always give me more; I guess they make me look cute, or maybe more miserable. Who knows what's going on in people's heads?
I really like hearts and the color pink. I feel like I'm still that little girl from the distant past."
