In Human Debris, an abandoned sofa appears in a vast, desert-like landscape generated through AI. The image suggests a world after human presence, where domestic objects remain as fragments of memory and comfort.

Yulia Ani paints over this synthetic scene with expressive abstract marks. The form on the sofa feels alive, as if something is growing, moving or trying to take shape. It breaks the quiet, frozen atmosphere of the AI-generated image and brings in the presence of the human hand.

The work reflects the central tension of the Human Layer series: between artificial image-making and intuitive abstraction, between digital distance and embodied gesture. Here, the “debris” is not only physical, but also emotional and cultural - the remains of human experience embedded inside images
