THERESA REIWER
ABOUT THE ARTIST
GERMAN ARTIST
LIVES AND WORKS IN BERLIN GERMAN
Theresa Reiwer is a (post)digital artist who creates multi-channel video, XR, and spatial installations that expand the tangible into the digital – and vice versa – using 3D, game engines, photogrammetry, motion capture, AI tools, and analog methods. Text is central to her practice, often developed through research as well as in collaboration with other authors and large language models. Lecture-like forms are cinematically stylized, different perspectives appear in dialogues that are voiced by fictional characters. Her work focuses on artificial intelligence, explored both as a mirror of societal paradigms and as a tool for imagining alternative futures. She received multiple awards and grants, including Lumen Prize Gold Award (UK), BBA Artist Priz (2nd winner) 2024, Mart Stam Prize 2019, Haus for Media Art Grant 2025, Hauptstadtkulturfonds 2026 and exhibited around the world, among others at Ars Electronica Linz, Chengdu Biennale, in Basel, Beijing, Einhoven, Istanbul, Madrid, Miami, Stockholm, Zurich. She was on the jury board for the AI short film competition AIsolation by Goethe-Institute China and HAU Hebbel am Ufer and regularly works as a speaker or lecturer (e.g. HTW Berlin, Uni Oldenburg).
