ABOUT THE ARTIST
BORN IN FRANCE
LIVES AND WORKS IN GERMANY
Vincent Jondeau is an investigative filmmaker and visual artist who currently lives and works in Berlin. He is an artist who always raises a question about the complex relationships between human and non-human beings, ecological crises, and the critical reinterpretation of collective and familial archives, based on lens-based media.
Her latest practice, “Extraction: Hidden Stories of a Seed,” is a long-term photography project developed as a visual investigation into the links between extractivism, colonialism, and ecological crisis. From her recent methodology—assembling her own photographs with archival images transformed through liquid latex and digital interventions—the artist tries to bring fragments of collective, personal, and non-human memory back to our reality. The historical exploitation of natural resources like liquid latex in colonial Vietnam is continuously confronted with a layered aesthetic of physical stratification. She describes her work as a space that dezeros the human perspective, allowing botanical memories and the sensibilities of plants to emerge to challenge dominant narratives. Her work is rooted in a sensitive study of physical and mnemonic ecosystems, merging documentary-scientific research within the form of poetic, alternative futures that address ongoing processes of loss and environmental responsibility.
Jondeau’s career is marked by an extensive array of screenings, exhibitions, and publications. She has been invited to exhibitions and collaborations at prominent venues, including Kunstquartier Bethanien, the Maxim Gorki Theater (7th Berlin Autumn Salon), Tieranatomisches Theater, and Galerie Pankow in Berlin, as well as the Biennale Photo Mulhouse, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and major art spaces in Italy, Lithuania, Istanbul, and New York.
