ABOUT THE ARTIST

BORN IN FRANCE

LIVES AND WORKS IN GERMANY

Margot Verne is a visual artist who currently lives and works in Potsdam (Berlin area). She is an artist who always raises a question about private fears, social power dynamics, and the uncanny fractures of everyday life, based on delicate and evocative collage art.

Her latest practice, “Soft Catastrophes,” is a visual staging of small psychological events. From her recent methodology—relying on deliberate interruptions, fragmentation, and sudden shifts in scale—the artist tries to bring moments of tension and psychological unease back to our reality. The seemingly mundane, harmless detail is continuously confronted with collective myths and a quiet sense of humor. She describes her work as a space to inhabit when language fails, transforming a fleeting sensation, a glance, or a gesture into a form that can be shared without being explicitly explained. Her work is rooted in an indirect yet deeply honest approach to the human psyche, merging subtle visual displacements within the form of emotionally charged, unresolved narrative scenes.

Verne’s career is marked by an emerging international presence within Central Europe. She has been invited to showcases and exhibitions, including the Open Studios in Potsdam, Germany, as well as international group exhibitions at Studio 52 in Prague and in Prachatice, Czech Republic.
