LIVES AND WORKS IN GERMANY
Max Eckhardt is a visual artist who was born in Bonn in 1987 and currently lives and works in Berlin. He is an artist who always raises a question about the essence of energy, inner strength, and optimism through his expressive portraiture, based on a semi-abstract visual language.
His latest practice, “BerlinGirl on Rooftop,” is an exploration of the freedom, intimacy, and quiet intensity of Berlin's youth culture. From his recent methodology—creating oil paintings where the figure and the sky dissolve into one another through soft transitions—the artist tries to bring the fleeting, dreamlike energy of moments spent high above the city streets back to our reality. The perspectives gained from living in the UK, California, and Mexico, alongside his background in industrial design, are continuously carried forward with his free, expressive brushwork. He describes his work as a space of calm and encouragement, inviting the viewer to sit beside the subject and become suspended in a moment where everything else fades away. His work is rooted in a philosophy of uplifting the viewer, merging a subtle structural clarity within the form of vibrant yet serene portraiture.
Eckhardt has exhibited his work in various solo and group exhibitions across Berlin. He has been invited to exhibitions and collaborations at aquabitArt Gallery on Augustrasse, BAAM in Kreuzberg, as well as multiple editions of the Suedwestpassage Kultour.
