LIVES AND WORKS IN GERMANY
Liloka is a visual artist and marine biologist who currently lives and works in Berlin. She is an artist who always raises a question about internal emotional and psychological landscapes, isolation, and the contrast of everyday moments, based on intense color compositions.
Her latest practice, “Train of Thought Unaware,” is an intimate exploration of silently disappearing into a train of thought amidst a noisy external world. From her recent methodology—creating oil paintings that depict her Berlin bathroom as a space for pausing and complete isolation—the artist tries to bring the intense interplay of thoughts and colors back to our reality. The mundane objects like wall tiles, a small table, or a shower curtain are continuously confronted with a vibrant color contrast of intense blue and red. She describes her work as a depiction of long moments where nothing seems to happen, yet a world full of life is fulfilled inside one's head. Her work is rooted in the inseparable connection between her identities as a scientist and a painter, allowing nature and the structuring of perception to serve as primary inspirations within the form of her expressive painting.
Liloka has exhibited her work in Berlin within independent art spaces. She has been invited to exhibitions and collaborations with the Mesken Collective, presenting her work at the cultural venue AEDEN Garden as well as the MARMOR Bar in Berlin.
