LIVES AND WORKS IN GERMANY
Jette Lübbehüsen is a visual artist and content creator who studied Media Design at Macromedia University and currently lives and works in Berlin. She is an artist who always raises a question about materialism, digital identity, and contemporary consumer culture, based on traditional oil painting and a fluid integration of analogue and digital practices.
Her bodies of work, such as “Trash Life” and “That Girl,” are a painterly investigation into everyday urban environments and digital aesthetics. From her recent methodology—capturing naturally found, discarded street waste in Berlin through the lens of meticulous oil painting or deconstructing curated Pinterest-style flatlays—the artist tries to bring hidden social commentaries and contrasts back to our reality. These objects serve as a modern equivalent to 17th-century vanitas still-lifes, reflecting on transience and the fleetness of materialism. She approaches her social media presence as an intentional extension of her studio and a transparent gallery space, allowing her audience to participate in the creative process in real-time. Her work is rooted in a critical analysis of consumption and self-expression, merging historical art references within the form of modern digital culture.
Lübbehüsen regularly exhibits her work in Berlin and collaborates closely with major art institutions. Alongside presentations at BAAM and collaborative duo exhibitions, she creates engaging art history content for prominent museums, including the Städel Museum, Kunstsammlung NRW (K20/K21), the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister Dresden, the Fondation Beyeler, and the Van Gogh Museum.
