LIVES AND WORKS IN GERMANY
Ronald Schrodt, known as Dr.Yo, is a visual artist and sculptor who studied Communication Design at the University of Applied Sciences Wiesbaden and currently lives and works in Berlin. He is an artist who always raises a question about the appropriation of public spaces, the transience of urban markings, and the unnoticed interactions shaping metropolitan life, based on highly detailed wall sculptures.
His latest practice, “Kieztour,” is a visual and tactile investigation into the surfaces of Berlin's urban architecture. From his recent methodology—gathering field observations along the U8 subway line between Neukölln and Kreuzberg—the artist tries to bring the raw, conflicted, and mundane dynamics of shifting social environments back to our reality. The ephemeral traces formed by movement, wear, and public use are distilled in his studio and translated into permanent physical structures. He describes his pieces not as mere literal quotations, but as expressions of a highly personal perspective, offering a loose narrative walk through his own Berlin within the gallery space. His work is deeply rooted in the continuous transformation of urban landscapes and his early background in graffiti and large-scale murals, merging the raw energy of the street within the form of sharply condensed, physical monuments of collective memory.
Dr.Yo’s career is marked by an active showcase schedule across Germany and internationally. He has been invited to solo presentations at Werkraum Hanau and numerous group exhibitions and contemporary art fairs, including Notagallery, the Urban Nation Museum, and New & Abstract in Berlin, the Stroke Art Fair in Munich, Affenfaust Galerie in Hamburg, as well as Known Gallery in Las Vegas and The Dolder Grand in Zurich.
