Bergman (born in Münster) received her initial artistic training under v. Malotky, a master student of Joseph Beuys, before earning her Master’s degree in Journalism, Art History, Sinology, and Latin American Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin. Her practice is significantly shaped by extended study periods in Asia, South America, and Southern Europe, where she mastered both the lightness and precision of Asian Zen painting and the European tradition of fresco painting. Bergman plays with the lines and contours of humans and animals until a unified rhythm emerges. In her painting, capturing the dancer-like quality of the universal interplay of lines, planes, and movement (often pushed to the point of abstraction) becomes a synonym for beauty and serenity. She achieves her multi-layered colors, which seem to glow from an inner light, using pure color pigments. In her recent blue works, she continually expresses this aspect of universal interconnectedness in new, abstracted ways. Her first public exhibition took place in 2015 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Beijing. Since then, she has exhibited internationally, including in Shanghai, Miami, New York, Budapest, Vienna, Luxembourg, and Berlin.
